Rap Saunders is a long standing and well respected member of the UK's House scene and a favourite of many of the worlds biggest DJ’s and Producers. Starting out playing soul and hip hop as a teen, he found his true love of House Music back in the late 1980’s, he found himself working at two of London’s iconic record stores, Zoom records in the Early to Mid 90’s where they specialised in supplying techno, trance, hard house and Progressive House music, he then later managed the buying of house music for BlackMarket records, Soho, where they specialised in the US sound of house from soulful to deep and Rap became the go to person for those seeking underground grooves for their vinyl collection.
Being a key player in what some might consider some of London’s most influential underground events and parties, Rap has had many residencies; the Azuli Records nights hosted both in London and Ibiza, the now legendary night New Opera, later known as Clandestino whose Sunday night parties at The End, AKA night club had an infamously discerning and cosmopolitan crowd and Need2Soul at The Key club, Kings Cross, during which time he met Dennis Christensen and Saint Sebastian and became the 3rd member of Soulmates back in 2002, where he gained a loyal following of the highest calibre DJ's both behind the decks and on its dance floor alongside a carefree and knowledgable crowd, being known amongst the music and dance heads as the mid-week party to be at, because of their ability to draw some of the greatest International DJ talent to play including Ron Trent, Alton miller, Glenn Underground, Tyrone Francis, Jovonn, Karizma, Frankie Felciano and Uchikawa to name a few.
Rap has played and toured around the globe and has been fortunate enough to play in some of the most legendary venue’s including the Loop Club in Japan, Peter Pan, Coccorico and Prince in Italy, D’joon in Paris, France, Pacha and El Divino in Ibiza, parties in Russia, Germany and Switzerland and many other countries and regularly guests as a resident at Soulmates, Stockholm Sweden.
Rap’s eclectic and polyrhythmic sound, coupled with the breadth and depth of his exposure to dance music in all its variants and his many years of DJ’ing experience allows him to take a crowd on a journey, playing the very best house music in his own unique style, always without compromise.
